Nadler Announces Over $15 Million
for Community Building Activities in NYC

New York, NY-Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) is pleased to announce that many programs benefiting the people of the 8th Congressional District of New York have received funding in the Congressional appropriations process. Rep. Nadler worked hard to secure this federal funding which will go toward community building activities.

"These projects are designed to make New York City a better place to live," said Nadler. "They will help fight child abuse, improve transit options, and assist local hospitals. Some of the funding will be used to improve security at local housing facilities in Brooklyn, preserve open green space, and support the arts. Community building projects are invaluable to our neighborhoods and deserve federal support, " continued Rep. Nadler

The following programs in Nadler’s Congressional District received appropriations:


· NYU Study of Genomics to help protect soldiers from bioterror threats -- $4 million

· American Museum of Natural History Study of Genomics to enhance understanding of pathogens -- $3 million

· NYU John Brademas Center for Study of Congress -- $1.3 million

· High Line Park -- $1,000,000

· Jazz at Lincoln Center -- $900,000

· OHEL Children’s Home and Family Services -- $890,000

· The Doe Fund's Ready, Willing & Able Program -- $750,000

· Center for Jewish History -- $600,000

· The Vera Institute of Justice -- $600,000

· Water Taxi Docks -- $600,000

· Coney Island Hospital -- $250,000

· SeaGate -- $250,000

· NYC Haber Houses -- $225,000

· Boro Park Jewish Community Center -- $200,000

· Alvin Ailey programs for At-Risk Youth -- $150,000

· Jewish Community Center of Coney Island -- $100,000

· NYANA (New York Asociation for New Americans) -- $100,000

· Callen Lorde -- $90,000

· Federation of Italian American Organizations -- $72,750
