(Washington, DC) -- U.S. Rep. Steven C. LaTourette (R-Concord) today announced that public housing authorities in the 14th Congressional District will receive more than $44 million in federal funds through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) capital fund grant program. LaTourette said the Fiscal Year 2004 grants will help local housing authorities with a variety of services, including large capital projects, modernization, development, financing and management improvements. The capital fund is a formula grant awarded annually to each of the nation’s public housing authorities. Funds may not be used for direct social services or luxury improvements. LaTourette said housing authorities from the seven counties in the 14th Congressional District will receive the following grants: Ashtabula Metropolitan Housing Authority $1,098,382 Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority (Summit County) $9,902,382 Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority $29,623,655 Geauga Metropolitan Housing Authority $359,659 Portage Metropolitan Housing Authority $541,616 Trumbull Metropolitan Housing Authority $2,394,321 For more information, please contact the individual housing authorities. |
