LaTourette reappointed to U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council

(Washington, DC)  --  U.S. Rep. Steven C. LaTourette (R-Concord Township) was tapped this week by House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert to serve another two-year term on the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council.

The council was created in 1979 by President Jimmy Carter to foster remembrance of the Holocaust.  LaTourette has been a member of the council since 1995.  The council oversees activities of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and works to ensure that the museum receives adequate funding.

“I’m honored to serve another term on the Council and look forward to supporting the museum’s important work,”  LaTourette said.

Typically, 10 members of Congress serve on the council, with five from the House and five from the Senate.
