(Washington, DC) -- U.S. Rep. Steven C. LaTourette (R-Concord) today announced that the Eastlake and Chagrin Falls police departments will receive federal grants from the U.S. Department of Justice Gang Resistance Education and Training (GREAT) program. LaTourette said the GREAT program is used to train police officers in a school-based curriculum that teaches school-aged children about the dangers of gangs and anti-violence techniques. LaTourette said the Eastlake department will receive $22,236 in federal funds and Chagrin Falls will receive $25,214. “Hundreds of school children will receive important anti-gang instruction thanks to the infusion of federal funds,” LaTourette said. |
