Congressional High School Art Contest |

(Washington, DC) -- U.S. Rep. Steven C. LaTourette (R-Concord Township) today announced that Kailie Parrish, 16, a junior at Mentor High School, has won this year’s Congressional high school art contest — An Artistic Discovery. Kailie submitted a charcoal drawing called “Grandma’s Hand” that will hang in a corridor of the U.S. Capitol for one year along with other winning artwork from across the country. Her artwork will be unveiled next month at a special ceremony in Washington. LaTourette said the second-place winner’s work will hang in his Washington office, and the third-place work will be displayed in his Painesville office. The fourth-place entry will be displayed at LaTourette’s Twinsburg office. Second place went to Aurora High School senior Stephanie Lewis for a watercolor called “How I Write.” Third place was awarded to Aurora High School senior Nicole Sevel for a colored pencil work called “Solitary.” The fourth-place winner is Erin Mealing, a senior at Aurora High School, for her watercolor piece called “A Day in March.” |
