LAHOOD INTRODUCES LEGISLATION TO NAME ROCK ISLAND POST
OFFICE
IN HONOR OF LANE EVANS
WASHINGTON---Congressman Ray LaHood (R-Peoria) today
introduced legislation which will name the main U.S.
Post Office in Rock Island, IL in honor of retiring
Congressman Lane Evans (D-Rock Island). The bill, which
is co-sponsored by all of Congressman Evans’ House
colleagues who serve as members of Illinois
Congressional Delegation, would designate the building
at 2633 11th Street in Rock Island as the “Lane Evans
Post Office Building”.
“Lane has admirably served the 17th District for
almost a quarter century,” said LaHood. “The citizens
of the 17th are rightly proud to have Lane Evans as
their Representative and it has been my honor to have
worked with Lane on many issues of mutual concern to our
districts. Designating this Post Office in Lane’s honor
is just a small token of appreciation to him for his
life of public service and it is a way for our entire
delegation to honor his service to the 17th district,
our state, and the country.”
Companion legislation is also expected to be
introduced in the U.S. Senate.
