(PEORIA, IL)—Congressman Ray LaHood (R-Peoria) today announced that several agencies throughout Central Illinois have been awarded grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to assist with housing for homeless citizens. The grants have been awarded to community agencies in Springfield, Decatur, and Peoria.
“These agencies provide vital services to the citizens of central Illinois,” said Congressman Ray LaHood. “These grant funds will be put to good use by these agencies to ensure that we have adequate housing to help confront the serious issue of homelessness.”
SPRINGFIELD
Helping Hands of Springfield
$115,332 for Supportive Housing/Permanent Housing Project
MERCY Communities of Springfield
$167,923 for Supportive Housing for their Transitional Living Program
Youth Services Bureau of Springfield
$91,899 under the Supportive Housing Program for their Transitional Living Program for Homeless Youth
DECATUR
Dove, Inc. of Decatur
A total of $548,425 under the Supportive Housing Program for four separate projects
PEORIA
Peoria Housing Authority in partnership with Phoenix House of Peoria
$126,000 under the Shelter Plus Care Program
South Side Office of Concern
$22,442 for Supportive Housing for the Handicapped Homeless program
Pioneer Civic Services
$112,912 for the Peoria Area AIDS Housing Option Program
YWCA of Peoria
A total of $484,265 for three separate Supportive Housing Program projects
