Reaches Out to Community To Help With Business and Immigration Concerns

Rep. Israel holds small business workshop 01/05/06 Huntington - Congressman Steve Israel (D-Huntington) held a Small Business - Immigration Workshop at Sitar Restaurant in Huntington on Thursday featuring federal representatives from the Small Business Administration and United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. Rep. Israel used this event to educate the community on the various federal outlets available to help them with their businesses.

"As a centrist in Congress, I continue to fight for the interests of small business owners who represent the vitality of Long Island," Israel said. "The Indian-American small business community plays an integral role in creating more jobs right here on Long Island and expanding the local economy."

Attendees had the opportunity to speak with public and private sector representatives, and learn how to expand their business, effectively run their current business, or start up a new business. Federal representatives were also on hand to help attendees navigate through the immigration process.

Joining Israel at the event were William Manger, Regional Administrator with the Small Business Administration; Barbara Whiting with the Small Business Administration; David Ross with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services; Earl Francis with the Minority Business Development Agency; Rajiv Sharma, local business leader; Vikram Rajan, local business leader, representatives from the Indian Chamber of Commerce, along with community members.
