REP. ISRAEL HOLDS SMALL BUSINESS - IMMIGRATION WORKSHOP TO AID THE SOUTH ASIAN COMMUNITY.
Reaches Out to Community To Help With Business and Immigration Concerns
01/05/06 Huntington - Congressman Steve Israel (D-Huntington) held
a Small Business - Immigration Workshop at Sitar Restaurant in Huntington
on Thursday featuring federal representatives from the Small Business
Administration and United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.
Rep. Israel used this event to educate the community on the various
federal outlets available to help them with their businesses.
"As a centrist in Congress, I continue to fight for the interests
of small business owners who represent the vitality of Long Island,"
Israel said. "The Indian-American small business community plays
an integral role in creating more jobs right here on Long Island
and expanding the local economy."
Attendees had the opportunity to speak with public and private
sector representatives, and learn how to expand their business,
effectively run their current business, or start up a new business.
Federal representatives were also on hand to help attendees navigate
through the immigration process.
Joining Israel at the event were William Manger, Regional Administrator
with the Small Business Administration; Barbara Whiting with the
Small Business Administration; David Ross with United States Citizenship
and Immigration Services; Earl Francis with the Minority Business
Development Agency; Rajiv Sharma, local business leader; Vikram
Rajan, local business leader, representatives from the Indian Chamber
of Commerce, along with community members.
