Throughout the year Congressman Hinchey has several internship positions available in Washington and in the district offices in Binghamton, Ithaca, Kingston, and Middletown. Internships are an excellent opportunity for college students and recent graduates to gain experience in a congressional office. For the college student, most universities offer credit for completed internships. If you are a recent graduate looking for an entry level position in a congressional office, an internship is a great starting point. In fact, a large percentage of Capitol Hill staffers made their start as interns.
Interns aid congressional staffs by performing a multitude of tasks. Interns are most often responsible for legislative and front office support, processing constituent mail, responding to constituent comments and requests, data entry, and Internet support. Internships are available on a full or part-time basis, depending on the intern's class or work schedule.
Please contact Sara Platt, Intern Coordinator, at (202) 225-6335 for more information.
The Washington D.C., Binghamton and Ithaca offices are no longer accepting internship applications for the fall semester. The Middletown and Kingston office still have openings. Thank you!
