My offices in Washington and Colorado exist for one reason and one
reason only: to serve the people of the Fifth District of
Colorado. There is an enormous amount of work involved in serving
a district of more than five hundred thousand constituents, and
interns are a vital component in helping my staff and I with this
mission.
Students who are interested in an internship may choose between
my Colorado Springs and Washington, D.C. offices. As an intern,
you will gain experience in a congressional office and learn
first-hand how Congress operates. Interns have the opportunity to
attend congressional hearings, assist the case workers, press
secretary and legislative assistants with day-to-day projects and
research, write letters and respond to constituent requests.
Administrative tasks such as answering the phones, opening mail
and greeting guests are also part of the intern experience.
Interested applicants must be enrolled in a four or two year
college or university and be in good academic standing. Preference
is given to students with Colorado connections.
Interns are required to work 40 hours per week and are
responsible for all housing, health insurance and transportation
costs. Salary is $1,200 per month before taxes.
