The United States is home to some of the most beautiful land in the world and conservation should be a high priority.  It is equally important to protect the privilege of Americans to enjoy their public lands by ensuring that our nation's beautiful resources are open and accessible.  There must be a balance that allows the land to be both protected and enjoyed.

Congressman Hefley is committed to the preservation and conservation of our nation's public lands and natural resources.  He focuses his legislative efforts on establishing a fair process for designating and managing federal lands and ensuring that the nation's parks and resources are maintained in a pristine condition.  He is also a champion of National Heritage Areas and has fought for legislation to protect America's historical landmarks.
