The United States is in the midst of a health care crisis that will only be stemmed through a massive reform of our health care system.  It is unconscionable that American citizens in need of medical treatment are routinely turned away from physician care because of insurance cost overruns and bureaucratic red tape.  Doctors and patients alike need a health care system that is both responsive and respectful of their individual needs.

Congressman Hefley believes that any reforms made to the Medicare program must be targeted toward improving the quality of care and strengthening the system so that it is available for today's seniors, as well as the seniors of tomorrow.  The biggest problem facing Medicare beneficiaries is that of access to care, and the most effective way to improve access is to adequately and efficiently reimburse physicians so that they can afford to treat Medicare patients.  Congressman Hefley remains committed to finding solutions to ensure that our nation's seniors are able to receive the care they need and deserve.
