As the world's wealthiest and most industrialized nation, the United States bears responsibility for ensuring its children are highly educated and prepared to succeed.  Education is the key to a lifetime of success, opportunity and advantage, and no American child should be stripped of the right to a superb education.

Congressman Hefley believes the U.S. education system should be based on local control and not edicts from Washington.  He is determined to fix our public schools by returning more power to parents and local communities and supporting legislation that gives teachers, school districts and states more flexibility to use federal funds for education needs.  Congressman Hefley supports public and private school vouchers and believes they empower students, parents and teachers to succeed.  School choice should not be feared, but rather embraced as a welcome step in education reform.
