[Washington, DC] – Congressman Vito Fossella (R-NY13) today released the following on the Archdiocese’s intention to close St. Paul’s school on Staten Island:
Fossella said, “This is disappointing news for St. Paul's and all of Staten Island. The school is an anchor in the community and on the front lines helping to meet the educational needs of hundreds of children. I spoke to Cardinal Egan again this afternoon about St. Paul's and he has agreed to my request to meet with all of Staten Island's elected officials to hear our concerns directly. We will present a united front and make the strongest case possible for St. Paul's. This has been a difficult battle, but we are not giving up just yet. The meeting with cardinal Egan represents one last opportunity to save St. Paul's."
