Congressman Fossella and the rest of the
New York Delegation were successful at restoring $125 million in 9-11
workers compensation funding this past December.
A majority of this funding will be distributed among various Fire Firefighters & EMTs FDNY's
Bureau of Health Services has a program for monitoring and treatment of
active and retired firefighting and Police Officers/Rescue and Recovery Workers Police
officers and any other rescue or recovery worker (construction workers,
volunteers, etc.) who worked the pile at Ground Zero or the Fresh Kills
recovery site are eligible for medical examinations and treatment
through the World Trade Center Medical Monitoring Program at Police Officers Seeking Mental Health Services Police officers or retirees seeking mental health services relating to their efforts on 9-11 are eligible to participate in Project COPE and the Police Organization Providing Peer Assistance (POPPA). The number for Project COPE is 800-845-8965 and the numbers for POPPA are: for active police officers: 888-267-7267 for retirees: 800-599-1085. Federal Employees Federal
employees who were involved in rescue, recovery and cleanup operations
in response to the 9-11 attacks can receive medical screening through
the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ WTC Federal
Responder Screening program. You
are eligible for the medical screening program if you are a current,
former, or retired employee of the federal government who was involved
in rescue, recovery, or cleanup operations at the |
