US Senate confirms Francisco A. Besosa as District Judge

Third vacancy to fill since Fortuño arrived at Congress

(Washington D.C.)- Resident Commissioner, Luis G. Fortuño, informed today that the United States Senate confirmed the nomination of attorney Francisco A. Besosa for District Judge for the US District Court of Puerto Rico.  The confirmation of attorney Besosa was under the agreement of mutual consent between senators from the majority and the minority before the congressional recess due to the midterm elections.

The Resident Commissioner indicated that, as it was expected to happen, the nomination of attorney Besosa was approved without problems or delays and with bipartisan support.  Fortuño seemed pleased with the confirmation of the nomination and said:  “all the district judges that President Bush has nominated since I assumed office have been confirmed unanimously by the United States Senate.”

Once the swearing-in procedures are taken care of, attorney Besosa will join federal judges Aida Delgado and Gustavo Gelpí who, also, received the recommendation and support of Fortuño.
