President Bush Calls On Americans
To Follow In The Footsteps of Dr. King

While dedicating the ground for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington, DC on November 13th, President Bush called on all Americans to contribute to the "unfinished work of American freedom" and to reach out to those in our society "who hurt".  USA Freedom Corps helps Americans who want to invest in their communities by highlighting comprehensive volunteer opportunities across the country.

Medical Reserve Corps Approves 500th Unit

The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC), a national network of locally based medical, public health, and other volunteers who help to strengthen the public health system of their communities, has reached a milestone. With the recent registration and approval of the Summit County, Utah, Medical Reserve Corps in Park City, the MRC now has 500 units. There are units all 50 States, Washington, D.C., Guam, Palau, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

President George W. Bush presented the President’s Volunteer Service Award to Mark Polakoff upon arrival at the airport in Billings, Montana, on Thursday, November 2, 2006. Polakoff is a volunteer with Absaroka Search Dogs. To thank them for making a difference in the lives of others, President Bush honors a local volunteer, called a USA Freedom Corps Greeter, when he travels throughout the United States. President Bush has met with more than 550 individuals around the country, like Polakoff, since March 2002.
