Joanne Peters Etheridge Announces $650,000 for Johnston County Airport WASHINGTON - U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-Lillington) today announced that he has secured $650,000 in federal funding for the Johnston County Airport. The funding will be used for construction to improve the Runway Safety Area (RSA) and related wetlands mitigation to bring the airport into compliance with federal regulations. "This funding is great news for Johnston County," Etheridge said. "This money will improve the Johnston County Airport and make it even better place for air travel. The enhanced airport will make Johnston County more attractive to businesses, and enhance the value of the community." The RSA improvements are part
of an estimated $9 million expansion and improvement plan at the airport.
The Johnston County Airport is a reliever airport for Raleigh-Durham International
