Congressmen Gil Gutknecht (R-MN), Rahm Emanuel (D-IL) to Convene Minnesota Town Hall Meeting: “Affordable Rx Drugs for All Americans”

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congressmen Gil Gutknecht (R-MN) and Rahm Emanuel (D-IL) will convene a Town Hall meeting on the issue of reimportation of prescription drugs on Monday, August 25, at 10:30 a.m. at the Gideon Pond Campus Chapel in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Emanuel and Gutknecht led the charge for successful passage of H.R. 2427, the Pharmaceutical Market Access Act of 2003, shortly before Congress recessed in July.  The legislation would allow Americans to purchase prescription drugs at the lower prices available in Canada or Europe.  As Congress works on finalizing the Medicare bill this fall, spending $400 billion dollars of taxpayers’ money, the Congressmen want to ensure that Americans are getting the best price not the most expensive price for their prescription drugs.

Emanuel and Gutknecht recently held a Chicago Town Hall meeting.
