Only 2.7 Million More Jobs to Go Just to Get Back to the Starting Line

CHICAGO, IL—U.S. Representative Rahm Emanuel (D-IL) issued the following statement in response to the updated unemployment figures released this morning by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

“21,000 Americans are better off today than they were last month.  But what about the other 8.2 million Americans and their families? 

Under George W. Bush’s leadership we have 2.7 million jobs to go just to get back to the starting line.  His stewardship has resulted in a jobless economy and an income recession.

Since the beginning of the 20th Century, George Bush and Herbert Hoover share the unique distinction of overseeing the greatest job losses in history.”
