WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Tuesday, February 28, 2006, in his office on Capitol Hill, U.S. Representative John Dingell (D-MI) presented U.S. Representative Rahm Emanuel (D-IL) with traditional Michigan paczki.
Said Congressman Dingell, “It gives me great pleasure to share Michigan paczki with my dear friend and colleague Rahm Emanuel. We both proudly serve a Polish-American constituency of decent, loyal and hard working people that celebrate Fat Tuesday, the day before the Lenten fast begins, and I am delighted to bring this tradition to Washington to share with my friends.”
“On behalf of the 111,000 people of Polish descent living in Chicago’s Fifth Congressional District, I join Congressman Dingell to celebrate Fat Tuesday with this polish pastry,” said Emanuel. “Paczki are a wonderful tradition and I’m honored to receive this gift.” |
