Academy Nominations

“Our military academies offer an educational opportunity equal to none other in the world,” said Congresswoman Johnson. “Acceptance to a military academy is not limited to those from wealthy families or those who hail from powerful dynasties. Those who exhibit fortitude, persistence, determination and focus can take advantage of this extraordinary opportunity. All area students should investigate the requirements and compete for a nomination to one of these fine institutions. I extend a special challenge to minorities to embrace this chance to get a first rate education.”
--Eddie Bernice Johnson

Congresswoman Johnson nominates high school students for appointment to one of America's military academies. Students interested in applying to one of the United States Service Academies should send a letter expressing his or her interest in seeking a nomination to:

Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson
Attn: Alani Mundie, Special Assistant
3102 Maple Avenue, Suite 600
Dallas, TX 75201

The Thirtieth Congressional District Academy Review Board evaluates each candidate on the basis of his or her academic record and the "whole person", including scholarship, leadership, physical aptitude, character and medical fitness.

To qualify for a nomination, the student must be a legal resident of the Thirtieth Congressional District. After the student's letter is received by Congresswoman Johnson's office, a packet containing an application and other necessary information will be mailed to the student. All information requested by the Academy Review Board of the student, including a high school transcript and ACT test scores should be returned to the Cedar Springs office by December 1. Applications are then screened by the Academy Review Board and are sent to the academies by December 31. If you have any questions regarding the nomination process, please contact Alani Mundie at (214) 922-8885.
