Congressman David Price (D-North Carolina) serves on the Appropriations Committee and its Subcommittees on Homeland Security, VA-HUD, and the Legislative Branch. He also co-chairs the Democratic Budget Group, a forum on national fiscal priorities and policies.

Price is a lifelong educator who was first elected to Congress in 1986. Many of his legislative accomplishments have focused on improving the quality of our schools by reducing class size, recruiting quality teachers, and making higher education more affordable. Price has also focused on issues involving international stability, campaign and election reform, housing policy, transportation projects and environmental protection. His legislation has made candidates more responsible for the contents or their campaign ads, funded upgrades in voting machines, helped low-income families buy homes, expanded housing opportunities for senior citizens and brought needed transportation projects to his district. He has pushed to extend unemployment benefits, create new science education and training programs in his district, increase investment in biomedical research and secure funds for programs that combat environmental degradation.

Before his election to Congress, Price taught political science at Duke University and chaired the North Carolina Democratic Party.
