Congressman George Miller (D-California) serves on the Resources Committee and the Education & Workforce Committee, where he is Ranking Member. He also chairs the Democratic Policy Committee.

Congressman George Miller, a leading spokesman in Congress on education, labor, and the environment, has represented the 7th District of California in San Francisco's East Bay since 1975. As chairman of the Democratic Policy Committee, the top ranking Democrat on the House Education and Workforce Committee and a member of the House Resources Committee, Miller plays a key leadership role in the House of Representatives regarding strategy, development and communication of a wide range of public policy.

Miller has a long history of important legislative achievements. In 2002 he coauthored the No Child Left Behind Act, which aims to improve teacher quality, hold schools accountable for the education of all children, and provide a higher level of financial resources to schools to meet the new goals. He also continues to be a champion of the environment and in 2000 he led an effort to increase federal funding of public lands conservation and wildlife and coastal protection. In addition to education and environment, Miller’s other top priority is creating jobs and strengthening the economy. He is leading efforts to protect workers’ retirement security, increase the minimum wage, and make it easier for workers to form and join a union.
