on Receipt of National Endowment for the Humanities Grant

(Washington, DC, August 18, 2006) — Delegate to Congress Donna M. Christensen is pleased to congratulate the Virgin Humanities Council on their receipt of a competitive grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Their proposed conference entitled The Future of the Past: The Business of Cultural Heritage, will focus on the history, culture and significant historical sites and structures in the Virgin Islands.  The Virgin Islands Humanities Council was selected as a recipient of this year’s award upon successful completion of a highly competitive and rigorous review and selection process.  The proposed cultural and heritage tourism conference was regarded highly and as one that would ensure that the best of humanities research, education, preservation, and public programs are cultivated.
