Christensen Congratulates Education
 on High School Accreditations

(Washington, DC, November 3, 2005) — Delegate to Congress Donna M. Christensen today extended her congratulations to the Virgin Islands Department of Education and Commissioner Noreen Michael on the re-accreditation of Central High School and the first time accreditation of the St. Croix Educational Complex.

In a letter to Commissioner Michael, Delegate Christensen praised the efforts of the department, staff, parents, PTA, students and especially the respective principals for a job well done in bringing St. Croix’s two public high schools into compliance.

“There is no doubt that we continue to face challenges within our educational system and our work is not done,” said Delegate Christensen. “However Central High’s and the Educational Complex’s success is a testament that we can work together to achieve positive results.  I encourage the Virgin Islands Department of Education to remain committed to improving our educational system,” she continued.

Christensen, who is a past president of the Central High School PTA, said that she was particularly proud of their accomplishment and of the active role that the PTA played in the accreditation.
