Farm Service Agency Makes Emergency Loans Available to the Virgin Islands

(St Thomas, VI, November 1, 2004)—Delegate Donna M. Christensen is pleased to announce that the Farm Service Agency (FSA) is now offering Federal disaster assistance to eligible family farmers in the US Virgin Islands.  The Virgin Islands were designated as Presidential major Disaster Declaration M157 by Presidential Bush based on damages on damages and losses caused by Tropical Storm Jeanne that occurred from September 14- 17th 2004.

Eligible farmers and ranchers may qualify for emergency loan assistance, pursuant to the provisions of the “Emergency Agricultural Credit Act of 1984”.  FSA will continue to accept loan application through June 7th 2005.

If you are a farmer or rancher who sustained physical and production losses as a result of the disaster and wish to apply for an Emergency loan to assist them in recovering from their disaster loss, may apply at the FSA office located at 5030 Anchor Way, Suite 2, Gallows Bay, Christiansted, ST.
