(Washington, DC, September 24, 2004)—Delegate to Congress Donna M. Christensen said today that legislation extending the rum tax cover over for two more years passed both the House and the Senate on Thursday evening as part of the tax cut measures moving through the Congress.

“I am also pleased that our rum tax rebate will remain at $13.25 for another two years,” Delegate Christensen said, although our efforts to get the remaining .25 (cents) continue.”

Christensen thanked Chairman Bill Thomas and Ranking Member Charles Rangel of the Ways and Means Committee for their support as well as Senators Charles Grassley and Max Baucus of the Senate Finance Committee for their assistance in moving the measure through.
