United States Fish and Wildlife Service Awards Virgin Islands Landowner Incentive Grant
(Washington, DC, March 1, 2004)—Delegate to Congress Donna M. Christensen is pleased to announce that the United States Department of Interior, Fish and Wildlife division has awarded the Virgin Islands $75,000 in Landowner Incentive Grants.

The Landowner Incentive program is authorized under through the Department of Interiors Related Agencies Appropriation Act of 2002. These awards are given on a competitive basis to state and territorial wildlife agencies and tribes to establish or supplement existing landowner incentive programs that provide technical or financial assistance, which include habitat protection and restoration, to private landowners for the protection and management of habitats to benefit Federally listed, proposed or candidate species, or other at-risk species on private lands.

The grants are divided into two tiers, this grant is a tier 1, which provides funding to implement landowner incentive program.
