Delegate Announces Launching of Grants.Gov Website

(Washington, DC,  January 21, 2004)— Delegate to Congress Donna M. Christensen is pleased to announce that the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has recently launched its Grants.gov website.

Grants.gov is considered to be one of few centralized sources to not only locate but also apply for federal grants. There are 900 programs from 26 different federal grant-making agencies. The idea of this site is to streamline the process of awarding the annually allotted federal funding and improving access to government services via the internet.

Funds are awarded to local and state governments, academia, not-for-profit and other organizations. The key benefits HHS hopes to provide are a single source for finding grant opportunities and learning more about funding, and to be a single secure and reliable source for applying foe federal grants online.

Upon visiting the site the site a grant seeker would search for grant opportunities. Once a match is found, the grant seeker would then download the grant application package, complete it offline and then submit it through the grants.gov site. The application would then be time stamped and the appropriate Federal agency has immediate access to the application.

Should you have question or would like to find out specifically which agencies are involved in this site please visit the website at www.grants.gov.
