LEPC to Set to Receive $4,085,000

[Washington, DC, June 16, 2003]—Delegate to Congress Donna M. Christensen is pleased to announce that the Law Enforcement Planning Commission (LEPC) will receive $4,085,000 from the United States Department of Homeland Security, Office for Domestic Preparedness.

The LEPC will receive this grant as part of the Fiscal Year 2003 State Homeland Security Grant Program on June 19, 2003.  This grant will be used for first responder preparedness, and to mitigate the costs of enhanced security at critical infrastructure facilities during the period of hostilities with Iraq and future periods of heightened threats.


Virgin Islands to Receive $30,000 from Homeland Security

In addition, each state and territory is set to receive $30,000 to develop a multi-year “business case” with in the next six months that should outline a strategy for managing future funding to implement map modernization and  to increase territorial and local capabilities for developing and maintaining flood hazard data.  This is only the first phase of funding for the Homeland Security, Emergency Preparedness and Response Directorate department, phase two of this funding is still being finalized.
