For example, in this First Session of the 108th Congress, the Whip organization has built strong support for the Democratic position on issues such as the budget, taxes, prescription drugs and education, among others. The Whip also plays an important role in working with the rest of the Democratic Leadership to determine House Democrats' legislative agenda and political strategy, as well as articulating the Democratic message in Washington and across the nation.
