Washington D.C., January 26, 2005 - Congressman Mike Bilirakis (R-FL) today announced that the Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) was awarded $1,227,717 in grants from the Department of Transportation.
The grants provide $1,227,717 for the purchase of two 40' hybrid electric buses to replace vehicles that have met their useful life. The funds will also purchase associated capital maintenance items, the continuation of the agency's ITS bus tracking, communications, and security project, and project administration expenses.
HART is responsible for meeting the public mass transit needs of Hillsborough County.
