BIRMINGHAM - U.S. Representative Artur Davis (D-Birmingham) is scheduled to host his annual Jefferson County Town Hall meeting Thursday, October 19 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Birmingham City Hall in the City Council Chambers.
This year’s meeting will focus on the issue of mass transit with a panel of experts and community leaders offering their insights on the future of transit in our region. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and get answers about the challenges and possibilities associated with developing an efficient transit system for Jefferson County.
Congressman Davis entered the discussion of mass transit for Central Alabama, and Jefferson County in particular, because of the resources that have recently been available for such a project at the federal level. However, before those resources can be drawn down, a comprehensive plan for what transit would look like in our community has to be developed. This meeting serves as a chance for members of the community to weigh in on the shape of transit in our area.
Elected officials, business and community leaders are scheduled to participate on the panel, and more information will be released as details are finalized. For more information on this event, please contact Darryl Perkins or Corey Ealons (press) at 205-254-1960.
