Abercrombie statement on Sgt. Parker Evans 

 

 
Washington, DC -- Congressman Neil Abercrombie expressed his condolences today on the death of Sergeant Parker Evans, who died yesterday at the U.S. Army’s Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany, of roadside bomb injuries sustained in Iraq.

 

Evans was serving forward artillery observer with the Hawaii National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 487th Field Artillery, 29th Brigade Combat Team

 

“I was deeply saddened to learn of the loss of Sgt. Evans,” said Abercrombie.

 

“As a member of our island ohana, his death hits home especially hard.

 

“I join our entire community in extending heartfelt sympathy to his family, friends and fellow soldiers.

 

“He was one of America’s finest.  We honor him for his courage, patriotism and devotion to duty.”
