Knollenberg: October marks National
Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Bloomfield
Hills
,
MI
-
Congressman Joe Knollenberg (R-MI/09) has released the
following statement in observance of National Domestic
Violence Awareness Month.
“Domestic
violence is a problem that will not go away if ignored. It can
affect all people, in all walks of life, and throughout
generations. It is also a problem that we must continually
address in order to stop the cycle of violence.
One
out of four American women will experience domestic violence
at some point in their lives. There are over 48,000 reported
cases of domestic violence in
Michigan
every year, and many more go unreported.
The
month of October has been designated National Violence
Awareness month. This is a great opportunity to talk with our
friends and loved ones about this growing problem and help put
an end to domestic violence in our community,” Congressman
Knollenberg said.
