While no specific plans have been proposed for Congress to consider, I look forward to addressing this issue. We cannot – and we must not – leave the looming crisis in Social Security for our children and grandchildren to solve.
Our nation must keep its promise to our seniors. Any proposal that earns my support will preserve all benefits for current and near retirees without raising taxes.
Accordingly, while personal Social Security Savings Accounts could enable our young workers to garner a financially secure nest egg, we must exercise great caution in evaluating how we might fund the transitional costs.
Enhancing retirement security for our seniors remains one of my top priorities. As a member of the House Financial Services Committee, I will continue to focus in particular on helping seniors fight financial fraud and other scams.
We look forward to engaging in a dialogue with our local seniors, the AARP, and other important advocacy groups regarding any plans that come under consideration
