- What do we know about you?
Congressman Richard Pombo's web site keeps general statistics on the number of
visitors, what they look at while on the site, and what kind of browser they are using.
This information helps us understand what users are interested in, allowing us to tailor
our site to what users want to see.
We do not track what you, as an individual, look at. We have no way of obtaining your name
or e-mail address unless you give it to us.
Pombo Report E-mail updates
The Pombo Report e-mail list is for the use of the Office of Congressman Richard
Pombo only. It will never be shared with anyone else, ever. You can unsubscribe from these
e-mail updates or modify your subscription information at any time by emailing an
'Unsubscribe' message to pombocommunications@mail.house.gov
Cookies
- Our new
e-mail system uses a cookie-enabled form. A cookie is an Internet term
that means a small amount of named data stored by the web browser and
associated with a particular web page or web site. Many Internet
companies like Amazon.com and Travelocity.com use this method to make
it easier for their customers to do business with them.
With cookies, once you fill in your
address and other information, your web browser will remember it when
you return. So, if you write to me again, simply click on Contact Your
Congressman and begin typing. This will only work if you compose your
message from the same computer every time. If you send me an e-mail
from an alternate computer, the cookie has no way of remembering who
you are, and you will need to enter your information again.
This page collects and stores the
cookie through JavaScript, which is browser-dependent. Users who have
disabled JavaScript on their browsers, who have installed cookie
crushers software or who are using an old browser that cannot read
this script, will have to fill in their information each time they
write to me.
To make it even easier for you to
keep in touch with me, once the cookie has been saved on your
computer, you can bookmark any page in my system.
Using Public
Computers
We recommend that you use Write Your Rep if you’re
e-mailing me from a public computer because the information you enter
is completely secure even on public computers. There is a possibility
that the next computer user could see your name and address
information if you use my new system. For example, if John e-mails me
from the computer at the library using my system, Nancy (the next
computer user) will be able to see where John lives when she clicks on
Contact the Congressman from that same computer.
Your Information will be Kept Secure
If you voluntarily provide your e-mail address to receive the Pombo Report, this
information is stored on our system. We have made efforts to ensure this information is
secured. No government or private agency, company or organization -- including any third
party vendor -- has any access to this e-mail list whatsoever. No one outside this office
has ever seen this list. And it will stay that way.
Your privacy is very important to me. If you have any questions,
please call my office closest to you [Stockton (209) 951-3091 or
Sacramento at (916) 361-1681].
