Southwest MN Foundation Awarded Rural Development Funds

(WASHINGTON, DC) - U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson (D-7th Dist.) announced that the Southwest Minnesota Foundation has been awarded a USDA Rural Business Enterprise Grant of $90,000.

“I’m very supportive of the Southwest Minnesota Foundation’s efforts to provide technical assistance to these small businesses,” Peterson said. “Their work is helping to create a good business environment in this region.”

These funds will be used to provide technical assistance to women, minorities and low-income small business in Southwest MN. The assistance includes training in accounting and management skills.

Bernadette Berger of the Southwest Minnesota Foundation said that they’re pleased with the additional funding, “The program has been a very effective tool for economic development,” she said.
