Peterson Secures $352,000 for Lake Wobegon Trail

(WASHINGTON, DC) - Congressman Collin Peterson announced that the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (TEA-LU) bill that includes $352,000 for the Lake Wobegon Trail.

“The Lake Wobegon Trail is a great asset for residents and vacationers throughout the year,” Peterson said. “The trail system in our state has been very popular with snowmobilers, hikers and bicyclists, and I’m pleased to see that it will be another step closer to completion.”

This funding is for construction of 4.4 miles of pedestrian/bicycle trail on an abandoned railroad corridor from Sauk Centre to the Stearns/Todd County line. When completed, in conjunction with the 7.6 miles of the Todd County section of the trail, the existing 50 mile Lake Wobegon Trail would be connected to the existing 55 mile Central Lakes Trail. Todd County has received all the funding necessary to complete their 7.6 miles of trail. The only unfunded portion has been the 4.4 miles in Stearns County.
