Kittson County Disaster Video Gets Play on Agriculture Committee Website

(WASHINGTON, DC) - Congressman Collin C. Peterson (D-7th District) has put a spotlight on Kittson County’s 2005 agriculture disaster, using a video produced in Kittson County to raise national awareness about the need for agriculture disaster relief.

Peterson posted the video, which was produced by Ron and Alicia Anderson, on his Agriculture Committee website and has used it to continue his push to pass agriculture disaster relief legislation in Congress.

“The people who put this footage together make a very compelling argument for disaster assistance in northwest Minnesota,” Peterson said. “I hope more people will see how critical this assistance is for our rural areas.”

The video includes footage taken during and after the storms and tornadoes that caused major flooding and damage in the region. It also includes interviews with Kittson County residents who were impacted by the disaster, including business owners, farmers, and a banker who discuss the broad economic consequences of the disaster in the region’s economy.
