    Jim Ryun is serving his fifth term in Congress, representing the Second Congressional District of Kansas. He is a member of the Armed Services, Budget and Financial Services Committees. Jim continues to promote a message of economic relief for the families of the Second District, working to ease the tax burden and eliminate unnecessary governmental regulations. As a citizen-statesman, Jim serves the people with a commitment to honesty and integrity. 

    Jim was the founder and president of Jim Ryun Sports, Inc., a public relations company. Through this company, Jim traveled across the country acting as a product development consultant, marketing products and promoting awareness of various charities. Immediately prior to serving in Congress, Jim partnered with the ReSound Hearing Aid Company, creating his own program "Sounds of Success," aimed at helping hearing impaired children fulfill their potential. 

    Married in January of 1969, Jim and Anne Ryun live in Lawrence, Kansas. They have four adult children: Heather, Ned, Drew and Catharine. Heather and Captain Daymen Tiffany were married on October 26, 1997, and have three children: Justus Nathaniel (born January 21, 1999), Walker Leon (January 19, 2001) and Mercedes Anne (May 28, 2003) Tiffany. Drew and Rebecca Anne Douglas were married on December 4, 2004. Ned and Rebecca Anne Parker were married on February 5, 2005, and have one child: Nathaniel Charles Jr. (born February 5, 2006). 

    Jim achieved national acclaim as a track and field star while a high school student in Wichita. In 1965, Jim set the male High School Mile Record of 3:55.3 – a record that stood for 36 years. Jim participated in three summer Olympic games in 1964, 1968, and 1972, winning a silver medal in the 1500 meter run in 1968. Jim also held the World Record in the mile, 1500 meters, and 880 yards.
