Washington, Oct 27 -  Rep. Jim Ryun (R-KS) today commended Wal-Mart for expanding their $4 generic prescription drug plan into Kansas. Wal-Mart pharmacies will offer 314 different generic drugs for the low cost of $4 each for up to a 30-day supply. The plan is available to anyone regardless of insurance coverage or income level. The program was not initially slated to reach Kansas until 2007, but customer demand prompted them to accelerate expansion to 12 more states, including Kansas.

“This praiseworthy initiative by Wal-Mart will help Kansas seniors and working class families afford the prescription drugs they need,” said Ryun. “This is a tribute to the free market system our country was founded upon, and I commend Wal-Mart for helping all Kansas families regardless of their income level.”

The $4 generic prescription drug plan is now available at Wal-Mart pharmacies in the following states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Vermont and Virginia.
