Ryun’s Freedom’s Frontier National Heritage Area Passed by Senate
Washington,
Sep 29 -
U.S. Representative Jim Ryun (R-KS) today announced Senate passage of the Freedom’s Frontier Heritage Area. The language, originally authored and introduced by Ryun as the Bleeding Kansas National Heritage Area, was approved as part of a larger bill, S. 203, the National Heritage Areas Act.
When enacted, this legislation will establish a national heritage area in eastern Kansas and western Missouri. Twenty-nine Kansas counties and 12 Missouri counties have participated and are included in the legislation.
“Senate passage of the Freedom’s Frontier Heritage Area marks a major milestone after years of hard work on the grassroots level,” said Ryun. “Countless individuals across the Second District have worked tirelessly to bring this piece of legislation to fruition, and I am grateful to each of them.”
Ryun continued, “The Freedom’s Frontier Heritage Area will be pivotal in telling the stories of one of the most critical periods in our nation’s history. These are stories worth telling, and worth preserving, for our children and our grandchildren, and will benefit many generations to come.”
The legislation now goes to the President for his signature.
