Job Summary

The Office of House Information Resources Information Systems Security, Chief Administrative Officer, is seeking a Senior Network Security Operations Specialist to provide leadership in the development and effective application of information security tools, policies, and procedures in direct support of the information systems security program for the U.S. House of Representatives.  The candidate will provide team leadership in analyzing and responding to real-time and archived intrusion, vulnerability, and firewall notifications.  Analyze and respond to computer security incidents to prevent or limit compromise of systems and data.  Investigate and document security incidents.  Analyze and provide recommendations to improve network security tools and processes.  Provide technical assessment and recommendations regarding secure implementation of Windows 2003 and Active Directory.  Provide remote access troubleshooting and support to user community.  Develop security guidelines and procedures.  Conduct evaluation and testing of computer security tools.  Provide 24x7 on-call supports as required.  Salary is commensurate with experience.

 

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.  Extensive experience with risk analysis, telecommunications security, system vulnerabilities, network topologies, server/workstation configuration, auditing logs, and general information security policies and procedures.  Demonstrated expertise in Intrusion Detection Systems, communication backbones, network protocols, LAN/WAN, network operating systems, servers, router configurations, firewall implementation and system penetration technology, and malicious logic tools.  Extensive experience with operating systems such as UNIX, network troubleshooting and monitoring/management tools, systems administration of one or more UNIX operating systems.  Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with elected officials, senior staff, information systems professionals, and technical and non-technical users. Ability to organize and plan effectively.  Ability to work additional hours as required.  Ability to provide 24x7 hour coverage of security functions.  Must be able to secure and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
