WALSH ANNOUNCES $750,000 GRANT FOR THE ENTREPENEURSHIP AND EMERIGING ENTERPRISES PROGRAM AT THE WHITMAN SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT AT SYRACUSE UNIVERITY

(Syracuse, New York)- Congressman Jim Walsh today announced that the US Small Business Administration has awarded a $750,000 grant to the Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises (EEE) Program at the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University.  The grant will support a Women's Business Center that will be housed in the University's South Side Innovation Center (SSIC).  It will carry the name Women Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship (WISE) Center.

The purpose of the center will coincide with the Whitman's School of Management's EEE program to support the role of women in entrepreneurship in Central New York.  "I am proud that the federal government could be a partner in making this opportunity available," said Walsh.  "The programs and activities provided by the SCIS and the WISE Center will surely enhance small business opportunity for women."

The project will create and enhance resources available to women that wish to establish a positive impact in the community by starting up a small business.  The establishment of the WISE Center on the South Side will greatly benefit the Syracuse Community and will further enhance the surrounding community.
