(Washington, D.C.) U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark
Pryor, along with U.S. Rep. Mike Ross (AR-04), announced Tuesday the Federal
Aviation Administration is awarding a federal grant in the amount of $437,000
to widen the Sheridan Municipal Airport runway to 75 feet. These
funds will be used to improve the safety of Sheridan Municipal Airport
and enable the facility to meet Federal Aviation Administration standards.
Members of the Congressional Delegation commended Grant County Judge Kemp
Nall and Sheridan Mayor Joe Wise, Jr. for their efforts to ensure the continued
economic development and enhancement of Grant County and the City of Sheridan.
“Airport improvement funds keep our local airports up-to-date, and
they're a vital economic development tool for our communities," Senator
Blanche Lincoln said. "It's critical that we look for opportunities
to make our airports around the state as safe as possible, and I'm pleased
that Sheridan Municipal is receiving this important federal investment
today."
“It’s critical that we maintain and improve the infrastructure at our
local airports,” Pryor said. “This funding will go a long way toward supporting
the facilities at Sheridan Municipal and help keep its operations running
smoothly and safely for pilots and their passengers in Grant County.”
“I am pleased that Sheridan Municipal Airport will receive this $437,000
grant to ensure the airport meets current safety standards to make critical
upgrades and improvements to their facility,” said Ross. “Investing
in our region’s airports and other transportation facilities is a vital
step toward ensuring our region’s long-term, economic development.” |
