“I was honored and deeply touched to present Pfc. Windham with a Bronze Star for his heroic actions during World War II.  By diverting attention upon himself and away from his comrades, Pfc. Windham single-handedly secured the safety of his platoon not knowing whether he would escape alive.  I am humbled to have the opportunity to award a man who so bravely fought for our nation’s freedom
