Ross Announces $78 Million in Military Contracts with Lockheed Martin

(Prescott, AR) Fourth District Rep. Mike Ross (D-Ark.) today announced that the Department of the Army has awarded two contracts to Lockheed Martin Corporation for work on rocket systems.  While the work will be split with the company’s facility in Grand Prairie, TX, 85 percent of the work on each contract will be performed at East Camden.  The contracts come as a result of the Fiscal Year 2003 Defense and Military Construction Appropriations.

“I am pleased to see the funding we fought for in Congress be delivered so quickly,” Ross said.  “The 2003 Appropriations included a total $930 million in projects to be completed among the defense contractors at East Camden, creating an opportunity for more jobs in our area during this tough time in our economy.  I know our workers for all our contractors at East Camden can take pride knowing that the military equipment they assemble is helping to keep our men and women in uniform safe.”

The contracts announced Friday are as follows:

$72,360,750 – High Mobility Artillery Rocker System (HIMARS) options for 30 each HIMARS Low Rate Initial Production launchers, estimated completion date is December 31, 2004

6,500,000 – Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) Component Advanced Development (CAD) change order modification, estimated completion date is March 31, 2006
