(Prescott, AR) Fourth District Rep. Mike Ross (D-Ark.) joined Members
of Arkansas's congressional delegation Monday and traveled to Ft. Polk,
La., to meet with Arkansas's 39th Brigade Army National Guard. They
are at Fort Polk completing their training before beginning a tour of duty
in Iraq. The 39th Brigade will head to Iraq in the next few weeks
as part of the 105,000 troops replacing the 130,000 soldiers who have been
in Iraq for nearly a year.
"It was an honor for me to travel to Ft. Polk to personally thank these
brave men and women from the 39th Brigade Arkansas Army National Guard
for their dedicated service to our country," said Ross. "It was important
for me to make this trip, because I wanted to tell the soldiers - in person
- how committed I am to making sure they have the resources they need to
get their job done safely, so they may return home to their families as
soon as possible."
Other Members traveling to Ft. Polk included U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln
and Mark Pryor and U.S. Reps. Vic Snyder and Marion Berry.
With only a few weeks until they head to Iraq, Ross said he was "heartened
by a recurring theme he heard from the 39th Brigade - how committed and
ready they are to serve our country. Their brave spirit is inspiring."
"These soldiers have undergone the best training in the world and are
prepared to serve our country," said Ross. "To witness their extraordinary
commitment was overwhelming. These are America's heroes, and they have
my full support throughout this mission." |
